Generosity extends to our community too.

We are proud of our association with organisations that promote ideals similar to SCU. We are particularly selective in our partner programs as they must demonstrate a benefit to the community, hence working with the NSW Swimming, Surf Life Saving, Student Scholarships, Hospital community activities, Children's sporting clubs to name a few is very satisfying.

We are also proud of our association with Credit Union Foundation Australia, an organisation that promotes social responsibility by empowering communities through access to affordable financial services both domestically and internationally. This program has successfully encouraged staff involvement in activities both overseas and at home and staff actively participates in raising funds for those less fortunate.

NSW Swimming and Surf Life Saving

Australians have always loved swimming whether at the beach or in the local pool. Most summer weekends there is a pilgrimage to the water and it is for this very reason that the Credit Union supports the teaching of swimming and beach safety through surf life saving.

Both organisations promote a healthy lifestyle (for young and old) and both promote strong community spirit.

NSW Swimming

Founded in 1889 NSW Swimming is the oldest organisation of any Olympic Sport in Australia and has a very proud history. NSW Swimming provides a wide range of swimming activities for the general community. These activities range from Learn-to-swim for both adults and children to top-level State, National and International Swimming meets.

NSW Swimming has over 37,000 members who are registered with over 400 clubs throughout NSW. National Representation is very high with NSW swimmers regularly comprising 40% of the National teams and squads.

We have been supporting NSW Swimming for more than 17 years and are the major sponsor of both NSW Swimming Associations Metropolitan Championships being the summer and winter events.

Surf Life Saving (Coogee Club)

The Credit Union believes the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club, offers a real sense of community spirit. The club offers a great way to meet new people, support the community, keep fit or just have fun.

We have been long-time supporters of Coogee Surf Clubs IRB area. The IRB is known as the surf clubs most visible and effective surf life saving tool on any beach and are affectionately known as ‘rubber duckies’.

Support from us is an integral component to running these invaluable life saving tools.

We offer each year a Scholarship which is awarded to a club volunteer who is doing some sort of full time study and offering his/her time to this fantastic community safety organisation.

St George Hospital and Lamrock Committee

We are an important part of the St George Hospital Community, with its support of various hospital initiatives and departments.

We are a major supporter of the Kogarah Fair and Charity Bed Race which is the Lamrock committee’s biggest yearly fund raising event. The Lamrock Committee sole responsibility is to fund raise for improved facilities at the hospital.

School Scholarships

We are concerned about youth and provide school scholarships to schools in our local communities. The winner of the awards are chosen by each of the participating school and the criteria is set by each individual school and mainly are given to either year ten or twelve students.

Some schools give the award to the high achievers as a reward for a great effort. Other schools give the awards to students who have ability but have some time of misfortune in their life or home pressures.

Chairman Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club

As one of the major sponsors, this sponsorship provides the Credit Union with significant exposure. But the highlight of the sponsorship is the opportunity to work with the Club in helping the players understand how they can best maximise their (financial) returns from their football careers.

Western Suburbs District Rugby League Referees Association

A new sponsorship which provides opportunities to work with the Association and their members - offering member benefits to both parties and providing the Credit Union with an opportunity to promote the benefits and assistance on offer.
